An easy and delicious way to use up extra pizza dough. For a delicious dessert, I like to make a dessert pizza using 2 basic ingredients: honey and powdered sugar.
Preheat the oven to 450°F. Use floured hands to shape the dough over a piece of parchment paper. Let rest for 15 minutes to develop some air bubbles.
Add spoonfuls of honey around the dough, but avoid placing it too close to the edges. It will spread out a lot as it bakes. Transfer to a pizza stone if you have one (or bake on top of a sheet pan) on the middle rack: 9 minutes.
Remove and top with a dusting of powdered sugar. Cut and serve hot.
Notes
Pizza Crust:You can use any pizza dough for this recipe. This thin crust pizza post includes a dough that works well for a dessert pizza because it gets nice and crispy. For best results, use the dough within a 24 hour period. Any later and the yeast will over ferment and the pizza will be too dense.Baking:For best results, always preheat a pizza stone on the middle rack at least 30 minutes out. You can set your oven to 500 or 450 and bake for 9 minutes. Make your pizzas small enough to make it easier to transfer in and out of the oven on a pizza peel. If you don't have a peel, make them super small and use a spatula.
